The Jerry Springer

Modeled after the popular TV talk show where the guests often become involved in outrageous quarrels and fights, this dance is one of the most creative to hit the dancehall in a long time.  The problem is, no two people do it alike.  Its suppose to look like some sort of fighting motion with an up and down movement but everyone seems to have their own interpretation of what a typical Jerry Springer fight looks like!! Nevertheless everyone is doing it, and accidentally hitting the person next to them in the process!!

Prong

Anthony B complained that "mi want back mi 'Water Pumpi' and mi 'Cool and Deadly' fi mek mi dance wid me lady, dem ya new dance too freaky..."  Well Bogle and Prong Kid were apparently not listening cause another freaky new dance style jus come out and a mash up the place, and the God Bless Crew and everyone else is sporting it big time!!  The "Prong" (as it is called) combines bending of the knees and wiggling of the waist to create a unique flowing motion.  Add various hand movements to it while walking and you get a dance that some say "either yu got it or yu just can't get it!!!  Its too "wiggly" for some, but whatever the case, it's mashing up the dancehalls right now!  Until next time!!

Heal & Toe

The Heel & Toe  is ripping up New York now, but not everybody can do it right!  The dance looks somewhat like the moonwalk except that you remain on the same spot while tossing your hand slightly from side to side.  Actually the dance is a ctually a variation of  Di ChatboutWith songs like BeenieMan's Silent Murderation on the Joyride Rythm serving as a catalyst, this dance is becoming the movement of choice...

Bashment Dance

While it nuh quite reach the United States yet, di Bashment Dance is ripping up yard like gunshot!  Inspired by the  Bashment Rhythm aka Joyride Rhythm (BeenieMan's Silent Assasin and Lady Saw's Sycamore Tree) this dance is a fovorite for rude bwoys and hotti girls whenever this rhythm is played in the dancehall.

Trinity

Right now if yu not doing di Trinity, yu not saying nutting!!  Backed by Snagga Puss and di Shocking Vibes Crew, dis dance is running things both a yard and abroad.  True to its name, dis dance is a combination of di Macarena, Tate' and some other dance mi forget right now....:)  In any event it wicked, and it versatile so even the clumsiest among us can show off sey dem can do it!!  And how du yu do it?  Well you start off with a slow version of di Macarena, then spin around and drop inna di Tate' style, then finally you glide across the dance floor with your arms extended in front of you as yu end it off wid di Hotti Hotti Bogle... oh yeah, I think dats di third dance!!!

Hotti Hotti Bogle

Bogle from Stone Love Movements' Black Roses Crew, who was responsible for the Bogle Dance and many others, has came out with the wickedest dance style to hit 1996, dubbed the Hotty HottyBogle. Want to know how its done, just catch a Stone Love party near you.

Clean Arm Dance

With the release of the song "Clean Arm Dance," this dance seems to be making its way into mainstream dancehall.  While this dance is just too funny to describe, I just wanted to let you know its out there.  when you see it though, you'll know it!!

Nutty Buddy

Goofy's "Fudgie" is the inspiration for this new dance which is more popular in Jamaica than in the states.  Basically you are shaking your sholders from side to side while gliding along the dance floor with your feet.  Done correctly, the dancer appears to be fying, rather than dancing across the floor.  Until it gets more popular you'll just have to wait for another Stone Love  or Afrique bashment where patrons readily display their skills at this new wonder.

Go Go Wine!!!

Jamaican Females are burning down the Dancehalls with the GO GO Wine, a very sexually explicit artform that Afrique and many other popular Sound Systems are now backing to the Max!! Much like the name, the Go Go Wine gives the dancer the appearance of performing a GO Go Routine (You all know what Go Go is right?), that is, wriggling up her waste and bending and getting back up again continuously while she rotates in a circle...

Body Basic & Exercise

Brooklyn Ladies seem to have taken Jack Lalane too seriously, because they are sporting di Body Basic. The Body Basic is getting some stiff competition from the very similar Exercise, another new dance quickly gaining popularity! This dance immitates various exercise techniques, including dum bell curves, and jumping jacks.

Bounty Dance!!

Not to be out done by anyone, Bounty Killa (Yeh!!! Laudamerci!!!!!) is brandishing the Bounty Killa Dance, (which Bounty himself originated by accident in Cactus Night Club, JA). Why is it called the Bounty Killa Dance? Probably because when it came out, no one esle but him was skillfull enough to perform this somewhat ackward style. However, when Bounty introduced it to New York at the Q-Club in Queens, everyone and their grandmothers was brandishing it the following day. I must admit though that it looks better when tall people do it! You can check out Bruck-Up (Bounty's dancer) brandishing it at Stone love Sessions...

Tate'

As comical as he is entertaining, Snagga Puss - the Shocking Vibes Crew dance child - has come up with a dance so funny dat even di name can't match it.  Dubbed di Tate', this popular dance is prettymuch an imitation of someone relentlessly searching for some object on his body that he seems to have mis-placed.  First yu bend you foot, den you lean back, look behind you, den look to the side, den start flapping your arms while going around in circles.  As if the dance wasn't enough on its own, of course Snagga also has the hit single "Tate" to push the dance along.

Sketel!

The Sketel came out with the "Stop Live inna Di Pass" by Beanieman and for a long while was the most popular dance out (partly because of the ease in executing it.) This dance has also been made popular by the tunes on Bounty Killer's "Valley of Death" Rhydim (wit songs such as "Gun No Tek Interview" etc). The ever popular Urkle came out with the return of the "Down in Jamaica Rhydm". Mega Banton's "Urkle" and another song "Nicki" has also been responsible for the growth in popularity of this dance. Although it remains popular in the States, the Urkle is slowly making way for the Sketel!

Others

BELIEVE IT OR NOT! - If you look good enough around a club, you can still see a few folks going wild with the Butterfly, Bogle, Della Move, Water Pumpi, Cool and Deadly, Wine and Go Dung, Jump Spread Out, and yes, even the One Foot Skank! I guess for some people, its just hard to let go!!!!!! Until di next dance.......
